The Magic Circle awarded this to John in 2001 for Services to British Magic. John was secretary of The Magic Circle for many years and was well known in the international world of magic. In 1996 the Academy of Magical Arts in Los Angeles awarded him a Lifetime Fellowship. He was a recognised expert on the Maskelyne family and together with Anne Davenport wrote St. George’s Hall, published by Mike Caveney’s Magic Words.
