The Davenports visiting Montevideo in 1927 to perform at the Artigas Theatre

In 1927 Lewis Davenport accepted a tour of Uruguay and Argentina in South America. Their only date in Uruguay was at the Artigas Theatre, Montevideo, the capital city. They opened at the end of July. Search for N3668 to see the programme. You would not know it without being told, but the three people standing in front of the Artigas Monument in Independence Square are Lewis and Wynne Davenport with their daughter Wyn. Gus Davenport would have taken the photograph. I have also included a modern photograph of the Square. It remains easily recognisable, but with more modern buildings surrounding it.
