Edward Victor was an inventive and highly professional magician and author. His instructional books in the Magic of the Hands series are still highly praised. He frequently worked for the Maskelynes at St. George’s Hall. Despite his magical skills, variety theatres often booked him for his shadowgraphy act, probably the best in the UK at the time. In 1932 he left for a variety tour of South Africa with his wife Eileen and son Paddy. His friends, including the Davenports, were there to see him off at a London station. This Davenport film captures their departure, the final shot focusing on Edward Victor and Gus Davenport in animated conversation.
