Adam and Eve joke item (Scherzartikel)

The instructions in German on the envelope say: ‘Stick a pill in the tree’s foliage and light it with a match. The snake appears immediately.’ Presumably some of these pills would have been provided in the envelope. The serpent would have been reminiscent of some of the indoor fireworks sold in the first half of the 20th century. It is not clear why a piece of elastic has been attached to the top of the tree.
