There is an interesting story behind this programme. One of the variety acts listed is Max Sterling with three Maskelyne & Devant illusions: the Burmese Gong, the Magic Kettle, and the Mascot Moth. David Devant’s My Magic Life tells us that Max Sterling left a vital piece of equipment behind in London, and the booking was postponed until January 1906. By that time Sterling was in the US with the same three Maskelyne & Devant illusions, and another performer took his place in Paris. More information will be found in the PDF, which includes all twelve pages of the programme and a photograph of Max Sterling.
