Halve It!

The envelope containing this packet trick tells us it is a Comedy Card Hit. This is what the audence see: 6 cards are placed in a row face down on a table. The magician gives them the numbers 1 to 6 refering to their position. The spectator rolls a die and, whatever number comes out on top, the magician puts a coin on the playing card at that number. The remaining five cards are put away and the magician asks the spectator to roll the die again, add the number on the top to the number on the bottom, and then divide by 2. So if the die has 4 on the top and 3 on the bottom, when divided by 2, the answer is 3½. It looks as though the trick must have gone wrong, but when the card is turned face up, the audience see that it is the 3½ of Clubs. Complete with instructions printed and published by L.D. and Co, London.
