Film of George Blake’s upside down strait jacket escape at Northampton in 1933

In 1933 the British Ring of the International Brotherhood of Magicians held their third annual convention in Northampton. They always had at least one outdoor attraction to gain press coverage and to spread the word that the public could buy tickets for the public shows.
This film captures George Blake’s upside down strait jacket escape. The convention programme tells us that on Friday 23 June “George Blake will attempt to escape from a regulation strait jacket whilst suspended from the derrick of a break-down van.”
