The embossed tableau was executed in copper. The image was taken from the picture of ‘The Battle of Arbela’ painted by Le Brun. We are told ‘the plate of copper from which this work is produced by the aid of the puncheon and hammer alone, consists of a single sheet, not more than one sixteenth part of an inch in thickness.
