Cracker trick

The magician would ask a boy from the audience to assist with this trick. The boy takes the top off a brass tube and checks that the tube is empty. The magician lights the wick of a cracker and quickly puts it in the tube before asking the boy to hold it. The audience find this amusing, although the boy may be too nervous to join in the fun. After some byplay the top is taken off the tube and the cracker has vanished. As the boy and the magician hunt around to try and find the cracker, as soon as the boy turns around the audience see that the cracker is hanging on his back. Of course the boy does not realise this, making it even more amusing from the point of view of the audience.
