George Cooke, of Maskelyne and Cooke fame, married Fanny Bedwell in 1892. So this card must be dated 1892 or later. The sender was clearly a character. In the interests of humour many words were misspelt. The text reads:
“Deer Mister & Mrs Cooke
We wish u a appie and a ?phosperus nue yer. We ope that during next yer yu will nevr have another ?byccucele back side dent, but, always walke doon ill, and, wride hupp ill.
