Wiregrams – revealing a card with a piece of wire

The special piece of wire supplied with this trick is a memory alloy – it changes its shape when it’s placed in very hot liquid, such as a cup of coffee. The magician ensures that a spectator chooses the Ace of Spades when taking a card from a pack. A piece of wire is taken which is either straight, or bent into some random shape. When the wire is plunged into the coffee it immediately changes its shape to reveal the name of the chosen card, as in the photograph on the left.
