There are many methods for the torn and restored newspaper trick. Dick Turpin’s method was put on the market by Brunel White. One of the illustrations here gives a more complete description of what the audience see. Note that in the top left hand corner of the envelope there is a hand written message: ‘With compliments from Brunel White’. Brunel White and the Davenports were good friends.
