The trick is advertised as a sly and slightly unrefined six card thought reading trick. The magician has six letter cards which spell out SPADES. A spectator mixes the cards upside down, and the magician takes one and pockets it. The magician then says: “You have an S, an A, a D, an E and an S and you want a P. Am I right, you want a P?” The gentleman spectator agrees that he does, at which point the magician shows the card from his pocket saying: “I thought so, these directions should help.” Complete with instructions.
