Brass tube for cigarette penetration

This is a very well engineered and completely mystifying trick. The magician allows spectators to examine a brass tube which has a screw on cap. Unusually, the tube has holes drilled through it, for the following reason. The magician borrows a cigarette, which could be marked if wished, puts it in the tube and screws on the lid. Then, one by one, the six hat pins are pushed right through the holes so that the cigarette inside must be really penetrated by the pins. Amazingly, when the pins are taken out and the cap unscrewed, the magician removes the cigarette inside and returns it, completely unharmed, to the spectator.
